Alicia Framis
*1967, Barcelona. Lives in Amsterdam. Photographic Documentation and Archive of Manifesta 2: Roman Mensing, Münster Dreamkeepers, 1998 (performance) "Dreamkeepers": the city walls are covered with these mysterious posters. Big letters on the picture windows of the Casino Luxembourg's "Aquarium" reveal the address of a website. Seated on an oriental carpet in the "Aquarium" of the Casino Luxembourg, Alicia Framisinvites the visitors of the exhibition to sit down with her, to have tea and a chat. She offers the visitors to guard over their dreams, at their homes or in a hotel room, to talk to them before they fall asleep. She will be their "Dreamkeeper". Alicia Framis watches over a stranger's most intimate moments: her/his dreams. Shifting the boundaries of anonymity she fills the inscrutable gap between individuals. The "Dreamkeepers" performance unfolds in the imponderable and open aspects of the encounter. A phone call, the rendez-vous, finally the hours spent sharing an extraordinary experience. A camera films the event: the sleep, a discussion, changes in the room, a story.
