Dan Perjovschi
*1961, Sibiu. Lives in Bucharest. Photographic Documentation and Archive of Manifesta 2: Roman Mensing, Münster Newsdrawings, 1998 (drawings in newspapers) Dan Perjovschi is a painter and conceptual artist. Since 1992, he has been a collaborator with the weekly "22" in Bucharest, the main press organ of the intellectual and cultural circles in Romania. The number "22" refers to 22 December 1989, the date of the revolution against the dictatorship of Ceausescu. Today, Dan Perjovschi's spontaneous drawings in "22" are renowned. Indeed, when the editors ask him to make a sketch on some page in the paper, Dan Perjovschi reads the page in question and delivers an "instant drawing". All through Manifesta 2, the artist will work with two Luxembourg newspapers: the daily tageblatt and the weekly d'Letzebuerger Land. The result of this collaboration and the collections of drawings are shown during the exhibition and make up the diary of Manifesta 2.
