Encounters

Strictly speaking, the encounters do not claim to be theoretical debates in themselves, but rather are conversations between interesting individuals involved with contemporary art in Europe. From the start, Manifesta has been conceived as an information and exchange network as much as a biennial exhibition. At present, a new generation of mediators, curators and art critics is emerging from all parts of the European continent.
It seemed important to us to organise these encounters for they are an opportunity to bring together people from the world of art who, each within a particular region of Europe and mostly independently from one another, are redefining the artistic stakes and forms of exhibition.
The encounters that will be attended by an international public, should be as flexible as the exhibition in Luxembourg itself and the new means of communication between artists and critics.

The encounters take place in the Casino Luxembourg, 41 rue Notre-Dame,
